Hey, by the book listeners, it's JoLenta.

As some of you may have heard, an author that we covered here on by the book is being

publicly held accountable for some really horrible racist behavior.

I'm talking about Stasi Schroeder, the author of Next Level Basic.

We at By the Book wanted to let you know that we've removed the episodes we made featuring

her work in an effort not to amplify voices that encourage white supremacy and racism.

Also, I'd like to take a second to personally apologize.

In my verdict, I recommended Next Level Basic, and it's embarrassing to admit that when

I recommended this book, I knew that Stasi had made some racist comments in the past

on her podcast.

I excused this because she gave lip service to owning her mistakes.

And basically because my white privilege makes it easy for me to overlook how insidious

missteps like this really are.

I promise to do better.

I definitely, definitely promise to do my own research and my own thinking before jumping

on the like, hey, they already apologized, so it's all good bandwagon.

So again, I would like to apologize for my insensitivity.
