0:17.4	We just had our church's VBS and during the week I helped out with teaching some Bible lessons and the big idea that we taught all week is that
0:22.0	God is faithful to the promises he makes to his people
0:25.4	and that ultimately they all come true in Jesus. We saw how promises found in the Old Testament
0:31.6	were just a preview of the bigger story that God was writing
0:35.1	all throughout scripture, his big story to save the whole world through Jesus.
0:40.6	Now it was a big concept, but I was so excited that the second third graders that I was
0:45.2	with were learning about how the Bible fits together both the Old Testament and the
0:49.8	New Testament. It's something that I didn't really understand until I moved to
0:54.0	Columbia 10 years ago and started attending the church that I'm at now. But it's a
0:58.6	truth that has radically transformed the way that I read, understand, and study scripture. And so as I read
1:05.3	Psalm 79 today I couldn't help but notice the way that this one Psalm is sort of like
1:10.8	a preview to the whole bigger story.
1:13.7	Now it's not super long but if you stick with me
1:16.7	we're going to trace where different parts of Psalm 79
1:20.3	connect to other parts of the bigger story.
1:23.0	And ultimately, we'll see how it's a little preview of the bigger story of redemption
1:27.3	that God is writing for the whole world.
1:30.0	We're going to start with context.
1:31.9	So the super script on this Psalm
