Technically, you don't have to ask God to save you.

That's an incorrect thing, and yet that's what we teach people all of the time.

We say, just ask Jesus to come into your heart.

That's implying that God hasn't done something and that we have to ask, and then, depending on how he feels about us, he either responds positively or responds negatively

and stuff like that. That's not

true. The Bible says in Acts chapter 16, verse 31, when the Philippian jailer came to Paul and

Silas and said, sirs, what must I do to be saved? He said, believe on the Lord Jesus and now shall

be saved. Believe what? Believe that he's already paid for your sins. Believe

that he's already dealt with it, that the pavement has been made. It's just a matter of you

believing and receiving. It's not a matter of you getting God to save you. If somebody came

forward for salvation tonight, and if I prayed with them, I did this not too long ago, I prayed

with somebody, and they said

that they had asked the Lord into their heart a hundred times, but they just didn't have any assurance that they were saved. And so I said, well, we're going to pray tonight, and you're going to get assurance. So I prayed with them, and I said, are you saved? And they said, well, I don't know. And I said, what do you mean?

You don't know.

The Bible says

right here in Romans chapter 10, verse 9, that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus,

and believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. I said, did you

confess with your mouth? Yes. Do you believe God raised Jesus from the dead? Yes. Are you saved? I don't know.
