Today I thought I would talk to you about the crucial importance of Bible reading.

I hope you've all heard of the Bible reading challenge, which our church ladies fellowship started a few years ago.

And it's just had a tremendous response from women all around the world.

Reading the Bible together on the same schedule. We're in Jeremiah right now.

And it's just been such an encouragement to see long time Christian women who say,

I finally read the whole Bible for the first time.

And then the next year they start over.

And so we are just chipping away a little every day.

You're welcome to join us and jump in on Jeremiah and finish out the Bible with us and then start over again.

But we want to just encourage women everywhere to read their Bibles.

Well, what is the Bible? What is the word? Well, it is the covenant document of God's people.

The Bible does not belong to the unbelievers. It belongs to us. It is our book.

But it is for the unbeliever, nevertheless, it is the God-given means, one of them, of finding out who he is and what he's done in sending us a Savior.

It's God's instruction manual to his own beloved people on how to live in a way that blesses us, his people, and pleases him.

Second Timothy 3, 15-17, says,

and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

This is a tremendous passage and what fun to just go through it quickly this morning with you.

The Scriptures are able to make us wise for what? Well, wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
