Today I'm joined by Dr. Arthur Agatston.

Now, Dr. Agatston is a cardiologist

at the Agattsin Center for Preventive Medicine in Miami.

He's an associate professor of medicine

at the Miami Miller School of Medicine

and a clinical professor of medicine

at the Florida International

University College of Medicine.

Now if you've had a coronary calcium score, you've probably also heard his name because the score

you get is called the Agatston score.

He's the creator of that score.

Now as you'll hear, he had colleagues, it wasn't all him, it was a group effort, but he was

sort of the primary motivator and the lead

author of the first paper. And so it became known as the Agatston score. He also is the author

of the South Beach diet. He's a big proponent of looking at insulin resistance as a risk

factor for cardiovascular disease. So he's really got a number of different things he's kind of known for in the cardiology

and now the preventive and nutrition and lifestyle world.
