Summary

“Work that is meaningful has the power to change not just what we do, but who we become.” Gloria Steinem Meaningful work isn’t just about what you do for a living—it’s about how your values, strengths, and sense of purpose show up in the world. Meaningful work is where your strengths, values, and actions intersect to drive a sense of purpose.  In this episode, I explore why meaningful work matters so deeply, especially for leaders and high achievers who look successful on paper but feel disconnected on the inside. I talk about how meaning sustains us through hard seasons, protects us from burnout, and helps us stay grounded in who we are rather than chasing external validation. I also unpack a misconception I see all the time: that your job should meet all of your meaning needs. That belief can create unnecessary pressure and disappointment. Meaningful work can live inside your workplace, but it can also exist outside of it through mentoring, service, creativity, advocacy, and leadership in your community. I share how anchoring meaning in values and strengths, rather than titles, opens up far more possibilities for fulfillment and impact. This episode also provides simple, practical ways to do more meaningful work right now, without quitting your job or blowing up your life. We talk about redefining work, creating micro-purpose moments, and giving yourself permission to diversify where purpose comes from. If you’ve been craving more depth, alignment, or impact in how you spend your time and energy, this episode will help you reconnect with what actually matters - and take your next meaningful step. stories to help you become a more confident, compassionate, and inclusive leader. The truth is,

0:27.5

you were born to lead. What might happen for you if you were to wholeheartedly embrace that

0:32.2

part of yourself? So let's start now, together. Hello, shameless leaders.

0:39.6

I'm in a weird setup today.

0:44.2

I'm at my desk like I usually am, but I'm standing instead of sitting.

0:49.2

So if you're on YouTube, like my lighting feels weird, my notes are like, feel displaced,

0:53.3

but my hip is killing me for who knows what reason, except for that I'm 50.

0:55.6

And so I need to be standing instead of sitting. So anyways, I'm getting acclimated. I'm excited to be here today to talk about something

1:00.2

that I think is really important and something that is absolutely carrying me through in these

1:04.5

really trying times. So if you're listening in live time, I'm recording this in the middle of

1:08.3

January of 2026. And we're in a season where it just

1:12.6

feels like a lot of people feel really powerless. And it's easy to slip into a narrative that

1:19.4

there's nothing I can do and all hope is lost. And we can find proof of that if we're looking for

1:25.1

proof of that. Absolutely. And as I've been

1:28.5

working and coaching this week, there's been these incredible things that have been happening.

1:33.4

And I've actually ended every day feeling really lit up and really excited. And then when I think

1:41.4

about that in contrast with the state of the world, it feels weird and like maybe that's wrong.

1:47.1

And maybe I'm like when the world is so heavy and hard and ugly, are we allowed to still be excited and happy about things?

1:53.9

The answer is yes, we are.

1:55.2

But that contrast can feel striking.

1:57.7

And I've been giving it a lot of thought and thinking, processing, kind of how to put
