We've talked about two of those worlds on the Cinephiles, alien and Blade Runner, both of which broke new ground in science fiction by creating environments

which were it once lived in and visually stunning.

But in Gladiator Ridley Scott turns his world-building powers not to the future but the past and his creation of ancient Rome is one of the most

Magnificent and compelling in film history in particular his recreation of the violence, majesty, and sheer terror of the Coliseum is absolutely breathtaking.

And it is into that world that our hero, Maximus, is about to step in part two of our exploration of Gladiator. The second half of the film

brings him face to face with chariots, great warriors, tigers, and of course the man

on whom he has sworn vengeance, the Emperor of Rome, Commodus.

Gladiator is a stunning movie with some of the greatest action sequences ever filmed, and John

and I have a fantastic time talking about it.
