Her new novel is called Audition, and it's available

from Riverhead Books. Audition is a genre-bending novel, and the third, in what you might refer to as a

loose trilogy, audition was preceded by the novel's A Separation and Intimacies, and it continues, Katie Kitamura's thematic exploration of identity

and interpretation and passivity. It's a novel about an actress and her husband and another young

man whose identity is a bit of a mystery. I'll put it that way.

This is a deft and destabilizing novel that reads as both a family story and a kind of psychological thriller.
