Summary

This week Kristen hangs with actor Michael Rispoli who has an impressive film and television resume. But, more importantly, he’s got the perfect New York accent. He talks about the nuances of being a working class actor and how he had to thicken his skin to survive in show business. They also talk about collecting as many rejections as possible, how we all have a mask we wear that makes us feel safe and keeping friends and family close. Salad dressings and condiments are also discussed. You can find Kristen on twitter @KristenCarney or on Instagram @KrisCarn.

Everyone, I'd like to welcome to the show, Michael Rospoli.

0:44.3

Wouldn't it just be lovely if he was actually right here, and I just seamlessly started talking to him, like a real regular show?

0:51.1

Well, that's not going to happen, So you guys get back to reality here real

quick. Uh, yeah. This is the kind of show I like to run. Awkward, slow, messy, out of order,

1:07.0

strange, not interesting, dry. The good thing about striving for these goals is that they're attainable.

1:13.6

So I have succeeded. Anyway, I'm going to tell you real quick about something that happened this

weekend. I was eating dinner with my parents and my grandmother, who, that's Grandma Rita. She was the

1:26.1

star of last week's post-show rant. And I came out to the

1:31.3

dinner table looking a little, a little crummy. And my grandma, lovely lady, but she was really being,

1:38.8

get a job with Grandma Rita style lady on Sunday. And she said, did you just get back from somewhere? And I said, no, I just

1:48.7

woke up from a nap. She shook her head and she said, I don't know how you're going to get anywhere

1:52.4

doing all these naps, which she's absolutely right. I don't know how I'm going to get there either.

1:57.6

It's kind of emotional. Sundays are very hard for me. There's a lot of expectations on a Sunday. It's almost like New Year's Eve, except the boring version of New

2:05.9

Year's Eve. There's like this societal code that you have to do something nice and relaxing on a

2:11.7

Sunday or be outside because it's nice out and it's summertime on a Sunday. And I kind of buckle under the pressure and I feel this guilt because I really naturally

2:24.0

want to be laying down in bed and not doing anything.

2:27.8

But I can't do that without feeling somewhat weird about it because of my summer of yes and doing all of these
