Summary

After Edward II's abdication in January 1327, England was ruled on behalf of the new King Edward III by Queen Isabella. But while Isabella probably wanted a life of respect, comfort and personal wealth Mortimer was hungry for power. This wasn't to be a story about the forces of life overturning the power of darkness. It was to be a new tyranny.

Mortimer last time we finally got to the fall of Edward and his evil henchman the dispensers

Isabella and Mortimer had a most satisfactory Christmas it really couldn't have gone

any better on the other hand it's entirely possible that Mortimer had something of

she wasn't too bitter and we should think a bit about the relationship between Isabella

and Mortimer the chroniclers in those early days always put Isabella to the fall and

not surprisingly after all she was the mother of the prince in whose name they were supposed

to be ruling and they were both understandably keen not to shove peoples noses in the fact

that they were both involved in an adulterous relationship which by and large as far as

the Queen was concerned at least wasn't smiled on but there can be little doubt that Mortimer
