So my guest today is Adele Waldman, author of a new novel called Help Wanted.

When I was looking for jobs, I walked into this big box store.

They were actively hiring, which wasn't true at some of the other places I went to.

So someone sort of sent me to the HR manager,

and he told me what shift they were hiring for,

what team that they wanted people to do this very early shift of unloading the trucks and putting the merchandise away before the store opened.

And he asked if I'd be willing to do that, and I said yes.

And I think that's what got me the job, was just willingness to do the hours.
