Today we're going to talk about all things Richard Roar.

So Richard Roar is a Franciscan friar.

He's also the founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation in New Mexico.

Today we're going to ask the question, is he a wise sage or is he a false teacher?

So according to the Center for Action and Contemplations website, they describe Roar as

this, a globally recognized ecumenical teacher bearing witness to the universal awakening within

Christian mysticism and the perennial tradition.

So his teachings are gaining influence, especially among millennials who grew up in the evangelical

church.

And he is particularly influential in the progressive Christian movement.

He's referred to as a spiritual father, a hero and a mentor by Jen Hatmaker.

He's endorsed by progressive leaders like Rob Bell and William Paul Young, Michael Gunger

and Brian McLaren.

This is just to name a few.

And so as he gains popularity, it's becoming increasingly more important for church

leaders to be aware of what he's teaching and how influential he is.

So I'm going to take a look at his view of the Bible, the Cross and the Gospel.

So first let's take a look at what Richard Roar believes about the cross.

So historically, Christians have believed that Jesus died on the cross for our sins,

that he took our punishment upon himself.

This is not only affirmed in Scripture, but it's taught by Jesus himself.
