0:25.8	Rachel Scott today she is so lovely you guys she grew up in a blended family like so
0:32.3	many of us did and like so many of us the
0:35.1	experience was not always fantastic and so when she found herself in the parent role of a blended family, her and her husband decided to be very
0:45.8	intentional and do some things differently, which honestly, hopefully my kids do things differently.
0:51.4	They are telling me they have lots of big plans to
0:53.8	parent differently and better than I parents. So anyway it's not that different
0:58.1	than what Rachel and her husband have decided to do. But Rachel found herself
1:01.6	she had some kiddos from a previous marriage and she found herself parenting much older kids from her husband's previous marriage so now she has a gaggle of kids that she is parenting from infant all the way up to adults.
1:16.5	I don't know about you, but that is a tall order.
1:19.4	I really wanted to bring her on the show because we all know the statistics. It's like half or more
1:24.7	than half of marriages and in divorce and most people have kids and so that means that you got
1:31.2	a lot of blended families and we don't talk about it that much
1:33.8	but there is some very specific needs and challenges that blended families need to
1:38.3	know how to navigate and I'm telling you what Rachel and her husband do a great job. You were going to love hearing from her.
1:44.4	We also both of us have a history of leaving abusive relationships and so we talk a little bit about that at the end. We didn't plan to go there, but we went ahead and did it anyway. So sadly, I know that some of you have that going on right now. And so I hope that that will give you just a glimmer of hope and a little bit of direction.
