Hello, friends, and welcome to the Liz Moody podcast, where every week we are sharing real science,

0:05.0

real stories, and realistic tools that actually level up every part of your life. I'm your host,

0:10.2

Liz Moody, and I'm a best-selling author and longtime journalist. Today, I'm going to share nine

0:15.4

questions that you can ask yourself to make 2025 your best year yet. You can reflect on these on your own. You can do them

0:23.3

with a partner. But I promise, and science shows that if you really think about these answers and

0:28.8

you take the action steps that I'm going to suggest in this episode, these will change your

0:34.0

life. All right. Let's get right into it. Question one, who is one person that I am

0:40.0

jealous of? What stokes my envy specifically? Over and over, psychologists on this podcast

0:46.5

emphasized that envy is an incredibly useful emotion. If you randomly sit down and you ask yourself,

0:53.1

what do I want in life? It's really easy to come up short. Our brains just aren't really that great at giving us direct information. But if you ask yourself, who is one person that I'm jealous of? 1:17.9

interchangeably here. And technically, like, definition-wise, we are talking about envy.

1:23.9

But colloquially, I find jealousy to be much more normal to say, and I think it's become

1:28.5

part of the lexicon in this way, even if the technical definition has not yet caught up. So I'm just

1:34.6

saying this so that you don't all come and yell at me in my DMs. But we are basically just

1:39.9

talking about wanting what other people have. So ask yourself who you're jealous of, why you're

1:46.7

jealous, and really try, this is super key, really try to get super specific. Is it because of their

1:52.7

job? What is it about their job? Is it the working hours? Is it the power that they have? Is it

1:58.0

the pay that they get? Is it the shape, the general construction of their

2:02.1

day? Is it their partner? What are the qualities about their partner that you're jealous of?

2:07.9

You're not looking to do like a one-to-one swap here. Obviously, you can't be like,

2:12.7

they have this job. I want this job. They have this partner. I want this partner. That's not
