Summary

In this story we follow the lives of three Japanese-American marines who joined the newly created 442nd division in France in 1943- leaving behind their families on the US west coast- families which had been forced to give up their possessions and move to internment camps due to a national panic caused by fear of a Japanese attack on the west coast. The legendary tenacity of the Japanese-American Regimental Combat Division throughout 7 campaigns in Italy and France made them the most decorated unit for their size and length of service in US history. 0:39.1	titled Go for Broke the inspiring true story of the 442nd Japanese American Combat Regiment in France during the rescue of the lost battalion in World War II is one of the most inspiring stories I've ever come across. The Japanese American men who
0:54.5	comprised the Army's 442nd Division showed unmatched courage and
0:58.4	sacrifice under fire as if they had something to prove. And they did, earning more than 9,000 purple hearts,
1:05.3	6,000 bronze and silver stars,
1:07.6	and nearly two dozen medals of honor
1:09.4	in seven hard fought campaigns against the Nazis. They fought in seven campaigns in World War II, but are best remembered for rescuing the
1:17.0	Lost Battalion, comprised largely of a Texas National Guard Unit, which resulted
1:21.9	in one of the most heroic ground battles in
1:24.0	American history. That Texas unit, the 141st, was trapped deep in the Vosjus
1:29.6	forest near the border of Germany and surrounded by 6,000 well-intrenched German
1:34.4	soldiers who had been ordered not to retreat. This is the story of what was called
1:39.2	the Nysai Gopher Broke Battalion, the 10442nd Regimental Combat Team, comprised of Japanese
1:46.5	American soldiers and their white officers. They were to become the most
1:50.3	highly decorated regiment in U.S. military history for its size and length of service.
