Stifling extreme heat is expected in the Midwest and Northeast this week.

Nearly 200 high temperature records are set to be broken or tied in the US,

and the National Weather Service says some areas could see their longest heat wave in decades.

Tens of millions of people will be sweating in heat well into the 90s,

while the most extreme risk is forecast from the Great Lakes to the northeast.

has forced hundreds of people to evacuate.

CNN's Camilla Bernell is in LA with more.

Hey, Joe, this fire has been growing.

It's now burned nearly 15,000 acres and we haven't seen improvements in containment.

It's still at 2%.

About 1,200 people have been evacuated and many others are under evacuation warnings.

But the biggest problem that firefighters are having is the wind.

Overnight, the National Weather Service forecasted wind gust of 60 to 70 miles per hour.

And Joe that's made conditions very tough for firefighters.

Also, millions of people across parts of the upper Midwest are at risk of flooding today, after multiple rounds of rainfall.
