Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck with the five things you need to know for Friday

December 1st Israel has resumed its strikes on Gaza this morning after the seven

day hostage release deal expired and as the

airstrikes have restarted the death toll on the ground is rising once more.

CNN's Orrin Lieberman has more from Tel Aviv.

According to health authorities in Gaza, at least 32 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in the first hours of the resumption of fighting.

Meanwhile Israel has dropped leaflets in parts of southern Gaza.

Interestingly, those leaflets have a QR code that brings you to a map with Gaza broken up into very tiny

parcels. It seems as if Israel will try to evacuate these parcels of civilians along established

evacuation routes in an attempt to avoid civilian casualties as the fighting resumes at pace.

Kata says negotiations between the two sides are still continuing with the aim of returning to a pause.

And Secretary of State Anthony Blinkin says Israel needs to make further efforts to protect civilians in Gaza.
