Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Wednesday, September 11th.

Many observers are saying Vice President Carmelah Harris was the winner of last night's ABC News presidential debate. President and he appeared to get pretty rolled up. People start leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom.

People don't leave my rallies.

We have the biggest rallies, the most incredible rallies in the history of politics.

They covered the economy, abortion, immigration, support for Israel, the war in Ukraine, and other key election issues.

We asked CNN's Jeff Zellany to break down what happened.

Hey Joe, the debate began with a handshake, initiated by Kamala Harris.

It didn't end with one.

But it was that small gesture at the very beginning of the debate that really showed Harris's

dominance over the entire proceedings. Trump was on the defensive on his heels.

Now of course we will have to wait and see how voters digest this if they actually heard

policy ideas on the economy on immigration that a snapshot poll taken right after the debate

of people watching it

show that a strong majority thought that Harris won the debate. It seemed

Trump did too. He arrived in the spin room moments after trying to say it was

one of his best performances.

Unclear if he actually believes that.

Because Harris said she wants to do another one in October,

Trump has not yet agreed. Secretary of State Anthony Blinkin is in Kyiv today with the UK's Foreign Secretary David Lamy.

The two have a series of meetings with senior Ukrainian government officials on their agenda as the war

against Russia is hitting a critical point and as Ukraine's allies have

expressed concerns about Moscow receiving ballistic missiles from Iran.
