Anger is rising along with the heat in Texas, as people in parts of the state enter a fourth day of crippling power outages.

Power outage. US says more than a million customers in the southeastern part of the state are still without electricity, after Hurricane

Beryl rammed through the region.

A councilman in Houston tells CNN, many residents are sheltering with friends or family

who still have power, but many can't afford to leave their homes.

And many stores are still closed, leaving food banks and public services,

scrambling to distribute food to underserved areas.

At least 28 suspected heat-related deaths have been reported in the Western U.S. this month,

as a heat wave has taken over much of the country in the past few weeks.

It's particularly hit states like California, Oregon and Arizona.

That's where police say a toddler died after her father left her in a car that was later found with the air conditioning off.

Prices fell last month for the first time since the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

June's Consumer Price Index has surprised economists

who were expecting a monthly increase,

but prices actually dropped 0.1%.

That brings the annual rate of inflation down to 3%. It comes as Fed Chair Jerome Powell warned

this week that the Central Bank isn't done trying to bring down inflation and that it could be a while before interest rates

start coming back down.

President Joe Biden is facing a huge test today, as he holds a solo news conference to wrap up the NATO summit in DC.
