Israel's military says it's taking control of the Palestinian side of the Rafa

crossing a vital entry point for aid into Gaza on the Egyptian border. Egypt's foreign ministry condemned Israel, calling the move

a dangerous escalation that threatened the lives of Palestinians.

CNN's Becky Anderson has more. Israeli forces, as you rightly point out, have taken over the Palestinian side of the

Rafa border crossing.

The IDF referring to it as having operational control of the area.

This crossing has been the main entry point, of course,

for aid in Trega, over the last seven months.

And aid agencies are warning that the interruption of aid entry will halt what is this critical

humanitarian response across the entire Gaza Strip. Medical officials in

Gaza say 23 people were killed, including six children in Israeli strikes on

Rafa overnight.

All this came hours after Hamas accepted, but Israel rejected a deal proposed by Egypt and Qatar, saying it was far from meeting its

demands, but that it will engage in more talks.
