Vice President Carmelah Harris is expected to speak at the White House later today in her first public appearance since

President Joe Biden endorsed her to replace him as the Democratic nominee.

Biden announced yesterday that while he's staying in office for the rest of his term he's dropping out of the

2024 race saying it's what's best for the party and for the country.

Harris says she's honored to get his endorsement, promising to quote, earn and win the nomination. If she's chosen she'll be the first

black woman and Asian American to lead the ticket of a major party and recent

polling suggests she has a better chance of beating former President Donald Trump than Biden did.

These are voices that I've been listening to most closely for the last couple of weeks.

Groups like Black Voters Matter, Higher Heights, and other organizers.

They are so core to the get out the vote strategy and have a

true pulse of how voters are feeling on the ground. Now they say they expect the

full Democratic apparatus to get behind her or they will lose the election.

Very little appetite from these organizers for a contested convention

because in their view that would prolong the chaos.

Harris's campaign says she's already raised more than 49 million dollars in

grassroots donations since yesterday. But while Harris has Biden's support as well as the backing of many Democrats,

her position isn't guaranteed, with some leaders in the party staying quiet so far,
