June 25th. The US Surgeon General says gun violence is an urgent public health emergency.

Dr Vivek Murphy has put out an advisory calling for a quote,

collective commitment to put an end to it,

and for more firearms laws.

It's the first time the office has ever addressed gun violence,

which is now the leading cause of death for children in the US.

That's part of the reason trauma nurse Kate Carlton has been going to schools to teach kids

how to treat gunshot wounds. I want you to think about that you guys have the

knowledge and the power to save somebody's life by knowing this. You could save

somebody's life. She's part of the Stop the Bleed campaign that was started after the

Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting and she works with children as young as kindergarten.
