Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Thursday October 19th.

An air strike on Southern Gaza this morning is raising concerns about aid getting into the strip.

The official Palestinian news agency says at least 30 people were killed

and dozens were injured in Israeli airstrikes on several parts of Raffer,

which is the same area where much-needed aid trucks are supposed to cross into Gaza from Egypt.

CNN's Becky Anderson has more from Tel Aviv.

A real issue about whether that area is safe at present and then we're talking

about 20 trucks I mean you talk to anybody on the ground here including the

UN agency he said we need hundreds if not thousands of trucks.

The problem for getting this aid in at the moment is that the roads are very badly bombed.

They have been sort of, you know, partially destroyed as a result of airstrikes. In a statement

Israel's military says it continued to strike in the Gaza Strip targeting

Hamas and will do so until all of the terror groups hostages have been released.

Back in the US, a State Department official says they've resigned over the Biden administration's

approach to the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.

Josh Paul wrote on social media that he's left because of a quote,

policy disagreement concerning what he called the continued lethal assistance to Israel.

To say it's been a chaotic couple of weeks for the House would be a major

understatement. Lawmakers could vote for a third time today as Republican

Congressman Jim Jordan once again tries to get elected Speaker.

Without a permanent Speaker in place, the House can't pass any legislation,

and pretty much nothing is getting done in Congress right now.
