As Israel is weighing its response to Iran's attack over the weekend, it's hitting Gaza with

airstrikes. The health Ministry in Gaza says 56 people were

killed and 89 were injured in the strip over the past 24 hours from Israeli

attacks. The Ministry did not give a breakdown of civilians and fighters among the casualties, and

CNN cannot verify the figures.

Meanwhile, Israel is facing international pressure not to retaliate against Iran's weekend attack.

Washington says it'll impose new sanctions on Tehran with other allies now looking to

coordinate their response.

Today, the British Foreign Secretary David Cameron is in Israel.

He said that the UK is calling for restraint

and that if Israel is to respond to do so in a way that is limited and does not cause escalation beyond the region.

And this is certainly being felt by regional leaders who have for some time now held concerns that these proxy developments

between Iran and Israel could spread to more direct engagement.
