Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Thursday, June 20th.

We're a week away from the presidential election's first debate on CNN, and the two candidates are getting ready for what

promises to be a historic clash.

Both Joe Biden and Donald Trump are in their home states today and

CNN reporters are on the ground to follow their preparations.

CNN's elect signs is in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where Joe Biden is this morning.

Well Joe, President Biden will head to Camp David tonight where he'll hunker down with

top aides for debate prep.

They're expected to start with informal discussions on topics and possible answers before transitioning

to full 90- minute mock debates.

A key goal for Biden is trying to paint Donald Trump as chaotic and divisive

and remind voters of what a second Trump term could look like. Meanwhile, CNN Steve Contorno is in St. Petersburg, Florida,

with more on how former President Trump has been preparing for the debates.

Unlike President Biden, former President Trump is not planning to hold mock debate sessions, nor is he

bunkering down to study. Instead the former president will hold a rally on

Saturday in Philadelphia and he is holding informal policy sessions with some of his

potential running mates as well as some close advisors. Unrelenting extreme

weather is plaguing the US as a dangerous heat wave is scorching parts of the

Midwest and northeast, crews battle fires in New Mexico and California, and flooding has

swamped southern Texas. We asked CNN's Elisa Raffer for more on the

heat.
