Christmas celebrations have taken a somber tone at the Vatican this morning, as Francis says the message of Jesus's birth

is being rejected by war. I bear in my heart the sorrow of the victims of the abominable attack of the 7th of October, and I reiterate

my urgent appeal for the liberation of those still being held hostage.

I plead for an end to the military operations with their

appalling harvest of innocent civilian victims. The ongoing fighting in

Gaza has cancelled Christmas celebrations in the city of Bethlehem

in the occupied West Bank, as local leaders made the decision to scale back festivities

and solidarity with the Palestinian population.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military says it's reviewing reports of dozens of people killed at a refugee camp in Central Gaza.

The Hamas-controlled Health Ministry says an Israeli

airstrike killed at least 70 people at the refugee camp.

With the Health Ministry reporting more than 20,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the conflict began in early October.

Global shipping giant Meersk says it'll restart operations in the Red Sea again.

This comes after a US-led security operation to safeguard the area.

Mayersk and other companies stopped shipping in the region, following attacks by Iran-backed

Houthi rebels, who said the attacks were revenge against Israel's military campaign in

Gaza, which Jorgen-Lian from Dn B markets says has added to the cost of goods.

We're seeing somewhere between probably six and eight percent

direct costs on fuel and then because of the insecurity of how this will

happen and how available freight will be.
