Hello! From CNN, I'm Joe Beck. With the five things you need to know for Monday, September 4th.

Thousands of people are stranded at the Burning Man Festival in the Nevada Desert.

Heavy rains covered the grounds with ankle deep mud too thick to drive on and

forced organizers to impose shelter and place orders over the weekend.

Festival goers were told to conserve food, water and fuel, and driving into and out of the area was restricted.

But organizers say some roads leading out of the event could reopen today.

And some people did manage to leave the site by trudging out on foot through the

thick mud, including the DJ Diplow, who said on Instagram that he then had to hitch hike on the

back of a pickup truck with comedian Chris Rock.

This woman has now managed to get out and she spoke to CNN about what it was like.

We couldn't leave, like we were stuck basically.

People could barely walk let alone ride their bikes or drive out of here

and so that started getting a little scary but some people told KTVN that there was

still a good atmosphere at the site.

We're there for our community and we all came together and made the best of it.
