The first thing I want to talk about is the fact that we often mislabel children's behavior as being bad when it may be a reaction to trauma.

They're trying to stay safe in the only way they know how. Children often don't have the self-awareness or emotional

vocabulary to express fear. So when their fight or flight system gets kicked off, they act. It's

important to remember that behavior is their communication. So we need to explore what are they

trying to tell me with this behavior?

Are they over tired? Are they feeling jealous? Are they feeling insecure in some way?

Before pathologizing the behaviors, explore the meaning and the function of them.
