So when somebody comes to me with a label about their dog, I'm actually happy.

Tell me more.

I'm happy because it tells me about the lens they have.

Because I now know that all the works at the loop end of the leash, my goal is to help them see that that is a lens.

But just in case you need a reminder.

Steve is a police canine handler, trainer, and also supervisor.

He really has two bitty notable accomplishments to read out here.

So I want you to do the show notes for this episode and read his full bio so that you can

really fully appreciate it. He's been around and he's done a lot of stuff. So I first ran across

Steve's name in one of my favorite books of all time, which you may have heard me mention,

Don't Shoot the Dog by Karen Pryor, where she talks about how he uses a clicker with his patrol dog.

And I've seen Steve speak in person several times over the years at Clicker Expo and at the

APDT conference, probably some other places too. And in fact, it was at my first APDT conference as a speaker that I got brave enough to introduce

myself.

This was several years ago.

Steve probably doesn't remember it, but I do.

And most recently, I've had the privilege of speaking with him at the Orca conference for

the last couple of years.

We're both presenting.

And that means I've gotten to hang out with him, like actually in real life
