If someone's listening to this and it scares you, the idea of holding boundaries, of maybe not going home for Thanksgiving, of not interacting with those people, the best case scenario is that this isn't forever.

This could just be for right now.

This could just be the boundary that you need to put into place to let them know how serious you are about how you want to

interact with them. And something you could do here is try a low contact trial. Like test the waters

with holding boundaries in place before you fully step away. Maybe you can keep

at surface level. Maybe you can't. But I really want to encourage you to do the work on yourself,

because ultimately that's all we can really do is to be as healthy as possible so that we have the courage to do what

needs to be done to protect ourselves.
