Summary

"Life has not been easy. Life, for the better part of the past few years, has been very hard and messy and stressful and exhausting. And I will give myself the tiniest bit of credit for surviving it. And for finding a way to be happy."

The month of May brings up all kinds of stuff for me. A birthday, Mother's Day, all of the school and extracurricular activities for Annie — and the anniversaries. In May 2023, my life was upended when I was diagnosed with stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma: breast cancer. Exactly two years later, I was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer that had spread to my bones. So yeah, May hits highs, lows, and grey spaces. Fortunately, there's nothing tragic to report in this episode! No status update, no big diagnosis reveal. Just some musings on my April vacation week with Annie, my Ali on the RunWAY debut, and how I'm feeling heading into 41. Plus, my thoughts on legacies and the mark we leave on the world while we're here. (Thank you for being here. I'm still here!)

SPONSOR: Shokz! The official headphone of the Boston Marathon! Use code ALI for $10 off your next Shokz purchase. (I love the Open Run Pro 2.)

You know the usual intro.

Today, though, it's just us.

And I know, I know, I know, I know. I just shared a monster solo episode last week,

a whopping two and a half hour beast recapping every single detail from my weekend at this

year's Boston Marathon. So I know it is a lot of Allie lately. It's too much Alley lately.

But tis the season for reflection here on the show and in my life. So if you're

0:39.9

up for it, this is just a bit about what's been on my mind lately. There's nothing tragic coming,

0:45.5

at least not in this episode, not that I know about. There's no status update, no big diagnosis

0:50.6

reveal, no, this is what's really going on. It's not one of those episodes. And thank

goodness for that. Before we stop the music, I am psyched to tell you that this episode of the

Allie on the Run show is brought to you by Shocks. My longtime partner, one of the best brands in

1:08.2

the industry, Shocks makes the only headphones I ever wear on the run.

1:13.3

It has been an actual decade since I've run in anything other than Shocks.

1:18.3

That's a fun fact.

1:19.8

I love the headphones.

1:21.1

I wear the Open Run Pro 2 model,

and I love them for the over-the-ear fit,

1:25.8

which rests on top of your ears instead of getting

jammed inside them. The bone conduction technology makes it so you can magically hear your music,
