I have the great pleasure today to speak to Joshua Sheetz of the podcast, Radical Personal Finance.

Thank you for having me on. I'm a big fan. I especially love your book. And ever since I became aware of it, it has become my go-to resource to give people an introductory guide to privacy that is both inspiring

and goes deep enough, but is accessible for beginners. So I thank you for all the good work that you're doing. I want to see more and more people embrace their natural right to privacy.

Excellent. And I appreciate that. I hope this is the first of many conversations that we have. And so I want to give people a taste of what you are all about in this first discussion.

So Josh, talk about radical personal finance a little bit. I want to ask this question in this way.

Looking back, when you started radical personal finance in 2013, what was the vision for it? And how has it evolved nine years later to what it is today?

Before I started the podcast, I had spent six years working as a professional financial advisor. Before that, I was a personal finance enthusiast.

And I had gotten laid off from a job. And when thinking about what I wanted in my own life, I started looking at the financial services industry. And I said, hey, this would actually fit a lot of what I wanted to create in my own life.

Meaning that I could get away from time for money. I could build something where I had equity, where I had ongoing passive income, et cetera.

And so in 2008, I joined a large insurance company and started working first as an insurance agent selling life insurance, disability income insurance, long term care insurance and health insurance.

And then I pursued my investment work, became a financial advisor, started managing money and building my financial planning practice along the way.

I said, I became a certified financial planner, chartered life underwriter, chartered financial consultant and, you know, about four or five other industry designations.
