Summary

ARQUISTE® Founder Carlos Huber is in the Perfumer Room today! Carlos’ love of old cities led him to his first career as a Preservation Architect, but it was his fascination with how they smelled that led him to his second: as a fragrance developer and founder of an award-winning fragrance brand focused on preserving history and architecture through scent. You can also thank Carlos (as well as legendary perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux, who, btw, personally trained him(!)) for the vacation in a bottle smell that is Vacation by Vacation Inc!

Carlos shares so many fun personal stories including how he broke into the industry and *spoiler alert*: if you’re thinking about flaking out on upcoming lunch plans, don’t, because for him, that’s where it all began…

Welcome to the perfume room. I'm very excited to share my scent of the day with you today because it's something you've been asking about for a while, which is for an updated list of my favorite designer sense that are currently

0:22.3

on the market available for you to try before you buy at your local Sephora's, altas,

0:26.9

Macy's, department stores, et cetera. And I will just let you know that there is an upcoming episode

0:32.0

completely dedicated to this topic. So for now, I will just share this one with you that I

0:36.6

recently tried and it was just an instant love.

0:39.7

And you know what? It is a flanker. It is the new givanchi irresistible scent, rose velvet.

0:47.3

Now, I'm not sure if it's the specific rose molecule that they used in this flanker or maybe the type of iris,

0:52.1

but it has such a distinct velvety texture, unlike the

0:55.7

original, just as the name suggests. It has almost like a sort of soft, fuzzy pastel effervescence.

1:03.0

Like the initial sparkle comes from the buzzy black current note in the opening. And then

1:07.8

the sort of chalky, pezzy, but I would say like peach fuzz over powder comes

1:13.3

from that iris note. And then there's a grounding note of petulia, which keeps the whole formula

1:17.2

warm and sort of out of that sort of soapy territory. This scent kind of feels like the physical

1:23.2

embodiment of that sort of Charlotte Tilbury, blush pink, pillow talk aesthetic. It's a

1:28.4

category that I am calling, and I think I've said this word before in this podcast, but it is a

1:33.5

thumbolina scent, okay? So a thumbolina scent, also lovingly referred to by me as a princess

1:39.3

peach scent, a tinkerbell scent, a Polly Pocket scent. If you are envisioning any of these characters, you are in the room with me.

1:46.3

Okay?

1:46.5

It's like anything that feels sort of sparkly, pastel, pez, fairy, oftentimes due to notes of rose, iris, oris, peach, citrus, rice powder, etc.

1:57.6

And it happens to be one of my favorite types of scents.

2:00.4

For reference points, some others that I would put in that category are like Maison Francis Kirkjohn, Ameris Femm, or Killian Flower of Immortality. If we're going more niche, Centauri and Thea, you get the gist. Anyway, tried this in Macy's. I absolutely loved it. And I am not sure if it's in Sifora or Alta yet, but it's

2:18.3

definitely in Macy's. And if you like any of the aforementioned sense I just mentioned, definitely

...
