Hello everyone and welcome back to the Squiggly Careers podcast. I am Helen, one of the hosts of the podcast, but I'm not here this week with Sarah. I am joined instead by Amy Brand, which I'm very excited about. Hello, Amy.

And I wondered, in terms of the context of your career, so we talk about squiggly careers,

Amazing If, and people kind of moving and it's not always a straight linear progression to where

they've got to be. How did you become a neuroscience expert?

Well, I think I can definitely subscribe to the squigglyness that you described.

So it all goes back to when I was three years old.

But I are recognising that we might want an abridged version of this.

My mum tells a story that ever since I was three,

I would look up at her having an intimate procedure done by her male GP.

And I was just heads all in, very interested, what's going on, what's going on.

And the doctor turned in all his wisdom to me and said, oh, when you grow up, do you want to be a nurse?

And apparently I looked back at him and said, no, when I grew up, I want to be a doctor. And that was sort of what consumed me for the next until I was 18 and went off to medical school.
