Welcome to the Strong Women podcast, where we explore a deeper understanding of the humanity,

0:08.1

value, intellect, and creativity of women. I'm your host Sarah Stone Street, and I'm your co-host,

0:14.8

Erin Kunkel. Well, Merry Christmas, everyone, and welcome back to the Strong Women podcast. Today on the podcast, we have a special guest who is a friend of Sarah and mine. And it's Jay Warner Wallace, also known to us as Jim. We invited Jim on the show for this Christmas episode for a special reason.

0:38.3

You might be thinking, why would you have an apologist on your Christmas episode?

0:43.3

Well, Jim has come out with a new book called A Person of Interest, Why Jesus Still Matters in a World that Rejects the Bible.

0:52.3

And Sarah and I were thinking about what we wanted to talk about for a Christmas episode,

0:57.7

and why not talk about this idea that what we celebrate on Christmas actually happened?

1:06.3

It's a historical event that Christianity claims is true, that this actually happened

1:13.7

2,000 years ago.

1:16.3

Now, we don't claim it happened on December 25th, but that's the day we celebrate.

1:21.3

Another thing that I was thinking about, too, is in one of our episodes with Christopher

1:25.5

West that a lot of you listeners have listened to and if you

1:29.1

haven't you need to go back and listen to that interview but Christopher West kept saying to us

1:34.8

if Christmas is real then da da da da da then there were implications to that right and he must have said

1:43.2

Sarah right four or five times,

1:45.2

if Christmas is real. So today we're talking to Jim about whether or not Christmas is real. Did Jesus

1:54.3

really come? Is it reasonable to think that what we celebrate on Christmas Day is grounded in truth and grounded in reality.

2:04.6

And if it is, I think this will just help to deepen our worship for this holiday that is coming.

2:12.5

So if you don't know who Jay Warner Wallace is, he is a cold case homicide detective who became a Christian

2:19.9

and became a pastor, and that's when I met him, and now has become an author, and he's written

2:27.4

several books, and as I say, this newest book, Person of Interest, is my favorite out of all his books, although maybe it's just my

2:35.8

favorite because I just read it, but I love all of Jim's books.
