Well, it's a question that all of us ask.

You won't live in a fallen world without asking this question.

What in the world is going on?

Maybe you've asked that after a long week of work,

and you realize you're not able to pay your bills.

Maybe you've asked that question in a moment of unexpected physical sickness. Maybe you've asked that when you've lost a loved

one, faced a relationship disappointment, studied long hours for a test at university that you ended up failing.

What in the world is going on?

Maybe there's a corollary question,

and how in the world should I respond to it? We want to look this evening, particularly at verses

3 through 9 of 1st Peter, chapter 1. If you remember, Peter is writing to people who are

suffering, he's writing to people who are being hammered.
