Thank you so much for joining me today.

One of the things I try to do is to keep rereading some of my old favorite

Puritan books. I think my husband did something like that

with Pilgrim's Progress for some years.

And I just reread bits and pieces from some of the sections and all

things for good by Thomas Watson, as well as a collection of

quotations from the Puritan Thomas Brooks collected by Charles Spurgeon.

It's called Smooth Stones Taken from Ancient Brooks.

It's also good. I recommend you get yourself a copy.

But for this podcast, I'm just going to share a couple of

quotations from these books.

First from Thomas Brooks. He says, I more the internal

workings of God in your souls than the external providences of God.

I'll just repeat that. I more the internal workings of God in your souls

than the external providences of God.

It's very natural for us to focus on God's external providences,

like the weather or the sickness or the financial need,

the new house or the job or the whole political scene,

all these things. And though we should be for certain,

we should be praying for all these things.
