of days or even perhaps hours, the first criminal charges will be brought against the

Trump Organization and its chief financial officer and keeper of Trump's secrets, Alan

Weiselberg. Here's what we know now. Last Friday, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office

informed Donald Trump's lawyers that it was considering criminal charges against his

family business, the Trump Organization, in connection with fringe benefits the company

awarded a top executive. The prosecutors have been building a case for months against

Alan H Weiselberg as part of an effort to pressure him to cooperate with a broader

inquiry into Trump's business dealings. But it was not previously known until last week

that the Trump Organization would also face charges.

This way Weiselberg is expected to be charged this week, putting additional pressure on

him to cooperate against his boss, former president Donald Trump. Mr. Trump isn't expected

to be charged at this time, said his lawyer Ronald Fischetti. Any indictment would be

the first to emerge from the sprawling investigation and would raise the unprecedented prospect of

a former president having to defend the company he founded and his run for decades against

accusations of criminal behavior.
