I'm your host, Dr. Donnelly Snipez.

In this video, we're going to define trauma, explore the prevalence of trauma,

identify the key elements of trauma-informed care, and the principles of trauma-informed care,

we'll learn about the ongoing impact of trauma and discuss how

trauma might contribute to the development of a variety of symptoms and how to address them

from a cognitive behavioral standpoint.

Just because something does not meet the DSM criteria for acute stress disorder or post-traumatic stress disorder does not mean it wasn't traumatic.

And that's why a lot of clinicians have started embracing the term big T for PTSD worthy triggers and little T for other traumas that don't rise to that level.
