Let's talk about you. Let's talk about your memories of 9-11. What was going on that day?

What were you doing?

I was actually heading to the U.S. Attorney's Office, which is down in Lower Manhattan,

not far from the World Trade Center that morning. I was on the FDR Drive, which is the East

River Drive, so it's on the eastern side of Manhattan. I was not too far from the Brooklyn

Bridge, which is just maybe, I mean, as the crow flies, maybe a half mile from ground

zero, where my phone rang. And my boss was telling me that a plane hit the Trade Center.

So like most folks, I thought some Sessna or some, you know, a little propeller plane

smashed into the Trade Center pilot, probably had a heart attack or something. But I couldn't

see it because the skyscrapers, even though those were very 12 buildings, they were skyscrapers

between me and them. So I had driven over there, pulled up to the scene. I remember finally

the space to park him in Manhattan was never very easy. But for some reason that day, I pulled

right into a spot just on the other side of 7-0 Trade Center. And I remember looking forward,

you know, I had to lean forward in the car to see the damage, kind of like when you pull

up too close to a traffic light. So I'm leaning forward and I see, you know, the damage

inside of the building. And I still never realized, you know, at that point that it was a commercial

layer liner. I was like, wow, that's a lot of damage. But you know, my brain didn't process

that it was a, you know, a giant plane, you know, a jet plane that carried passengers across
