The quality of a wrestling match, like everything else when it comes to art, is entirely subjective.

One man's trash is another man's treasure and one man's dud is another man's five stars,

which is primarily why getting uppity at Dave Meltzer throwing four stars at Jay Uso versus C.M.Punk simply isn't worth it.

A lot of things can drag down a match like a botch or a bad finish, but ultimately

it's up to you to decide if those things make a difference to the overall quality and, more

importantly, your enjoyment. Nobody can sit here and say a match is definitively, inarguably

the best or worst of the year, because it all comes down to tastes, preferences, biases and everything

in between.

So when you're tasked with something as in century as naming the worst of the worst, it makes

sense to acknowledge that this is all opinion-based and lean on the foremost aggregator

of those opinions.

The rating system at cagematch.net is not perfect, but it is the closest thing that we have

to Rotten Tomatoes in wrestling.

It generally provides a good idea of consensus, given that it is curated and controlled

by fans contributing of their own free will.

coverage, we have looked at stinkers only from the promotions that Walt Culture covers on a daily

basis, which means I don't have to talk about Mickey James versus Macchi Ito, and that is a very good
