No guitar is safe. Hey, welcome to episode eight of no guitar is safe. And you know, as sometimes is the case, I have to ask you a question, because I've been thinking about this. Maybe you can help me. Who do you think has the most cool guitar gig in rock and roll?

And by guitar gig, I mean someone who's been hired by someone else to play lead guitar.

Like, you know, hired guns situation. Who's got the most fun, fulfilling, kickass, badass,

hired gun situation going in rock? I'm going to say maybe it's Vic Johnson. Vic

plays lead guitar for Sammy Hagar. He's been doing that for 18 years and counting. It's always been a

fun gig, but now they have this new album, this new band is called The Circle, and the album is

called At Your Service. It's a live album and it's really live.

It sounds totally legit.

You know, I was driving up to Marin County to interview Vic.

I mean, wait, I was, sorry, I was flying the helicopter.

Flying the helicopter.

Yeah, right.

And I was getting a little drowsy and this album came on and it just picked me up.

Like it was so real. like it was so real the energy

was so real there's no overdubs i don't think there's no auto tune there's missing lyrics where

they're clearly goofing off on stage or whatever it's like a real album from the past like those

70s live albums that really had that feeling of a real night captured by some microphones

and these guys are throwing down.

And Vic, I mean, the set list is insane.

And this is why I think he has the funest job in rock.

Because not only does he get to play the killer Sammy Hagar riffs,

he also gets to play songs from Sammy's first real band, the great Montrose.
