My name is Sarah Turnie and this is Voices for Justice.

Last time on Voices for Justice we went over the timeline of May 17, 2001.

The day Alyssa disappeared and we heard firsthand accounts from Alyssa's friend Jessica

and our father about what they remember from that day.

In this episode we are going to begin looking at the events that occurred immediately after

Alyssa was gone as well as the beginning of the investigation into her disappearance.

Although he didn't express a lot of concern about Alyssa's safety when reporting her missing

to the police, our father began calling Alyssa's friends with a lot of urgency about the

danger she could be in and he immediately asked me to create a missing persons fire.

In his 2009 interview with ABC 2020 he explained to his state of mind during this time.

When the interviewer states it must have been terrifying for you.

Our father responds, yeah no one my daughter better than anybody else did, it scared the

live in hell out of me.

So I started calling everybody I could call and then calling her brothers which I couldn't

get a hold of and telling him, look we got a problem.
