My name is Alex Schmitt, I'm also known as Schmitti the Clam, I'm also known as Schmitti

the Champ, but I am also also someone who's only ever driven past Nakatomi Plaza.

If you know anything about the original Die Hard movie from 1988, Nakatomi Plaza is the

name of the tower in the movie Die Hard that they're trapped in and blown up and stuff,

and that's a real tower.

Its real name is Fox Plaza.

Fox Plaza is in the Century City section of West Los Angeles, it literally sticks out.

There's not a lot of other tall stuff around it, everybody here's driven past it.

And almost all of Die Hard was shot in that tower for real.

One difference is that they did the exterior shots of whenever the tower gets broken or exploded

by using a scale model and doing special effects.

And they had to fake the destruction because hey, that is a real working office building.

That's a place that is still an actual office space to this day.

And so even though it's a cool film location, you cannot go and visit.

There is a gate and a front desk and a security staff.

And I think that is good.

And here's the thing, I think if movie fans were allowed to run around Fox Plaza really

nilly, they would at minimum disrupt people's workday.

And at maximum fans would pretend to be John McLean and Yippee Kaieh damaged the building.

And I don't think that's a good thing.
