The Senators end their rare Saturday session. I'm Carmen Roberts. Fox News. And they left without

taking a vote on a spending bill to end the government shutdown, now the longest in U.S. history,

at day 39. Fox's Chad Pergram has more from Capitol Hill.

There's a push for a test vote on a new GOP plan to fund the government, this government shutdown is not

about spending. It's about Obamacare. Democrats insist on health care aid. The GOP will not bend

to the Democrats' demand for extra money. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer offered a straight

spending bill, but he wants a year-long extension

of Obamacare credits. Democrats are also concerned about the Trump administration going to the Supreme

Court over lower court rulings, which forced the payment of SNAP benefits. Supreme Court Justice Katanji

Brown Jackson temporarily halted the payment of SNAP money.

And on that ruling, the Trump administration's emergency appeal, it is a temporary ruling,

and it gives the administration more time to appeal a lower court ruling.

Airline delays and cancellations are mounting as the FAA restricts flights to deal with

the high number of air traffic controllers who are not getting paid during the shutdown and

calling out.

Flight Aware shows that airlines have canceled more than 1,400 flights today and delayed nearly

6,000.

Homeland Security says a driver opened fire on customs and border patrol agents in

Chicago this morning. DHS says border patrol was conducting immigration enforcement operations

when an unknown male suspect driving a black Jeep fired shots at agents and then took off

somewhere. They say some agitators also threw a paint
