For now, I'm Lee Silicera, Fox News, a federal judge has halted the suspension of the

right to carry firearms in public that New Mexico Governor Michelle Duhon Grisham had

put in place for the city of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County.

Federal judge David Ureyes said the governor's order violates the rights of citizens to protect

themselves, saying, quote, individuals have a right to carry a handgun for self-defense

outside the home supports the contention that plaintiffs have met this factor for justifying

a restraining order at this stage of litigation.

Grisham had claimed that gun violence in Albuquerque was so bad, it constituted a health

emergency that required a gun ban permit or not for 30 days, despite New Mexico being

one of 38 states that allow legally open carry.

Fox's William Lawson asked this as House Democrats are urging Congress to vote on a gun

storage measure named Ethan's Law after a Connecticut teen who shot himself with an

unsecured gun.

Safe storage of firearms is a common sense approach that will save lives.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffreys, the measure has passed the House before but got

bonked down in the other legislation in the Senate.

A federal judge has declared in legal a revised version of a federal policy that prevents

the deportation of hundreds of thousands of immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.
