Controversial cluster bombs are headed to Ukraine.

It follows months of debate, but the U.S. is sending the cluster munitions.

Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Dr. Colin Call says the U.S. has hundreds of

thousands of cluster munitions available to send.

Ukraine is part of a new $800 million aid package.

Compared to Russian cluster munitions, the DPI-CM rounds, we will provide Ukraine have

an extremely low failure or dud rate.

The global purpose-improved conventional munitions can release a slew of smaller bomblets

and are banned in over 120 countries.

Ukraine also has committed to post-conflicty mining efforts to mitigate any potential

harm to civilians.

Explaining Ukraine has committed to responsible use measures, including not using the rounds

in civilian populated urban areas.
