Blinken, is in Beijing on a rear trip to China. As relations with the U.S. continued

to sour, he'll spend the next two days meeting with top Communist Party officials.

It is unclear if he'll sit down with President Xi Jinping.

The senior State Department official says that the primary goal of this trip is to reestablish

senior level communication that includes military to military.

Though other issues like China's role in the fentanyl crisis, they're up for discussion

as well. But that same official will also play down the idea that a broad range of deliverables

would come from this trip. The two days that Secretary Blinken is spending in high stakes,

talks marks the highest level American to visit China since President Biden took office.

The visit was already delayed once. That was after the Chinese spy craft was detected,

roaming over the U.S. President Biden has not spoken to his counterparts so far this year,

but he says that he believes Blinken's visit will ease tensions between the two countries.

President also said yesterday that he hopes to meet President Xi sometime over the next several

months. President Biden is now out on the campaign trail for 2024 and his allies already pushing

back on those who say he shouldn't be seeking a second term. Despite the President's campaign

rolled out in Philadelphia Saturday, many are still pointing to age and poll numbers as reason

for the President to not run. Rhode Island Democratic Senator Sheldon White House on ABC's

this week said the President can counter the negative talk. He can do that by continuing to talk

about his successes, about the experience, about the wisdom. Senator White House also said it would

do the President no favors to even offer a comment on legal matters involving former President
