tapping the brakes. I'm Lisa Lacerra. Fox News. The Justice Department says it's placing a hold on a controversial fund been to compensate President Trump's allies who believed they were unfairly prosecuted for political reasons, complying with a court order.

Last week, a federal judge in Virginia ruled the fund must be paused while she sorted through

legal issues.

The DOJ posting on social media late this afternoon, quote, this fund was open to anybody

who was so weaponized, targeted, persecuted, whether they were Democrat, Republican, conservative,

independent, or otherwise, the department will abide by the court's ruling.

Now, the fund was born after the president decided to drop his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS

after a former employee there leaked his tax returns.

This week, Senate Democrats will push legislation to ban this slush fund and ensure no president can ever do this again.

The Associated Press is reporting President Trump is reconsidering putting the fund in place following backlash from Republicans.

And the president sounding optimistic on an Iran deal telling ABC news it could happen over the next week.

Today here at the White House, President Trump spent his time in meetings, including calls with

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the leaders of Hezbollah through intermediaries.

and Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a partial

ceasefire. The Senate back in session today, though not much progress has been made on a border
