President Trump says his so-called big, beautiful bill includes a down payment for a new missile defense system.

The Golden Dome, a missile defense shield, modeled after Israel's Iron Dome system,

will be capable of intercepting weapons launched from space, President Trump says.

It's a pretty evil world out there, so this is something that goes a long way toward the survival of this great country.

The president says an architect for the Golden Dome has been selected in lawmakers

intend to include $25 billion for the project in the emerging reconciliation bill.

A final cost is expected to total $175 billion.

The defense shield could be operational before President Trump leaves office.
